My skin is pretty tough but with my tretinoin I have to be careful with certain spots like around the tip of my nose. I used to use tretinoin every night but I noticed even though my skin looked much better it also got thin. Could be just aging. Now I use it 3-4 times max. One night a week I sleep with REN’s overnight recovery balm. I cut back on tretinoin in the summer.
😂 I had to share this post with my mom. When all the other moms in high school were lecturing my friends and I about smoking they talked about things like lung cancer. It had no effect on us because we were young and thought it couldn’t happen to us. My mom’s speech was “ you are all going to have bad skin and look so old” everyone quit the next day.
So I did “skin cycling” is the term Dr Whitney Bowe gave it, but I personally think a lot of people who use tretinoin do their own version of this. Especially when trying to get acclimated to it. I followed her regimen for a few months and it works great but i didn’t like using AHA/BHA that often and I prefer using TRET more often. So now I use tretinoin every other night and I use acids once a month. And that works for my skin better. ❤️
@tnel10 same here. I also found that I didn’t need 2 nights of recovery. I think skin cycling helped my skin because I before I was using tret every night and that was a bit much for my skin.
One of the things that helped me when I was placing them in my face is to take my time. I had to remind myself several times to go in deeper. I did end up with 3 pimple looking things on my face. Those spots were from where I didn’t go in deep enough. A week later I noticed a little white head looking thing on them and when I pulled it out the bumps went away. I placed around 60 of them and it didn’t hurt. I really want to do my neck but I found it to be more difficult.
